New Quay — Cei Newydd — is a fishing village on a sheltered bay on the Ceredigion coast, well known for its bottlenose dolphins and a wild, cliff-top setting. The clifftop gorse above New Quay Head is among the earliest forage sources in mid-Wales, flowering from February onward; the steep sheltered valley gardens behind the harbour carry sycamore, hawthorn and bramble. Collectors handle swarms in the steep terraced gardens and older whitewashed properties of the village above the harbour, along the coastal path gorse and scrub between New Quay Head and Llangrannog, in the sheltered valley gardens of the residential streets behind the seafront, and in chimney stacks and roof voids of the older render-and-stone cottages on South John Street and George Street.
