Rosebush is a small hillside village in the heart of the Preseli Hills, once the site of a short-lived Victorian tourist railway and quarrying enterprise. The surrounding moorland carries heather, bilberry and gorse in abundance — the heather flow in August is a significant late-season source for colonies working this high ground. The landscape is one of open rocky moorland dotted with standing stones and ancient burial chambers, with improved grassland and hawthorn-hedged farms in the cwms below. The Tafarn Sinc, the painted corrugated-iron pub, is the village's most famous landmark. Pembrokeshire BKA serves beekeepers across the Preseli Hills.
Collectors cover swarms on the heather and gorse moorland around the village, in the hawthorn and blackthorn hedges on the ffridd (enclosed rough ground) below the open hill, in the outbuildings of the upland farms in the cwms east and west of the village, and in the stone walls of the old quarry workings and slate-roofed cottages.

Gorse on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path begins flowering in earnest by March. Blackthorn and hawthorn follow on the sheltered hedges; sycamore and horse chestnut in Tenby, Haverfordwest, St Davids and Fishguard carry May. Lime and bramble fill midsummer in the towns. The Preseli hills contribute bell and ling heather in a quietly reliable August flow. Coastal sea-lavender, sea-thrift and dune plants along Freshwater West and Newgale add seasoning; ivy on stone-built cottage walls closes the year.
