Fivemiletown sits on the Fermanagh side of the Tyrone–Fermanagh border in the gentle drumlin country of the Clogher Valley. The old Clogher Valley railway line that ran through the village has left a grassy trackbed corridor now colonised by bramble, meadowsweet and hawthorn scrub — a valuable linear foraging habitat through summer. Mixed farmland surrounds the village with productive hawthorn and blackthorn hedges giving strong spring forage in May. Sycamore in the village centre and along the approach roads contributes a useful June and July flow. Ivy on the older stone buildings carries bees into October. The rough limestone grassland patches on the drumlin slopes carry wild marjoram in late summer.
Swarms around Fivemiletown are often found in the sycamore and elder along Main Street and Church Street, in the bramble and hawthorn scrub along the old Clogher Valley railway trackbed west of the village, in the whitethorn hedges on the Clogher and Brookeborough Roads, and on ivy-covered walls near the village church grounds.

Blackthorn and hawthorn on limestone hedges open the year; sycamore fills May. Lime in Enniskillen gives a strong June flow. Bramble is dense; the lough islands' limestone grassland contributes wild thyme, marjoram and knapweed. Hemp agrimony and purple loosestrife along the Erne and its tributaries carry a long late-summer flow. A modest ling heather crop on the Cuilcagh uplands, and ivy on old lakeside cottages, close a long mild year.
