Llandysul is a quiet market town on the River Teifi in southern Ceredigion, known for its woollen mills and deep river-gorge scenery. The Teifi gorge woodland — oak, ash, hazel and blackthorn — gives local bees an excellent spring forage, and the surrounding dairy farmland with its densely planted Welsh hedgerows carries hawthorn, elder and bramble through midsummer. The Teifiside Beekeepers' Association is based in this part of the Teifi valley and covers swarm calls throughout the southern Ceredigion parishes.
Local collectors handle swarms in the mature trees and older stone properties around the town centre on Blaenwaun and Church Street, along the Teifi riverside oak woodland and gorge margins on the Ceredigion–Carmarthenshire boundary, in the walled and hedged gardens of properties on the hillside above the river, and in the outbuildings and eaves of older Welsh-stone farmsteads on the surrounding lanes.

Coastal gorse gives an early start at Aberystwyth and New Quay; blackthorn and hawthorn run behind. Sycamore and hawthorn are the backbone of May. The Cambrian uplands contribute bell and ling heather from late July — a modest but reliable crop — and bilberry in the sessile oakwoods adds a quiet early-summer supplement. White clover on hill pasture and bramble in deep Welsh hedges carry midsummer. Coastal sea-campion and thrift add an unusual saline note, and ivy closes the year on whitewashed cottage walls.
