Long Itchington is a canal-side village on the Grand Union between Leamington Spa and Southam, with a notably long village green and a strong community character. The canal corridor is lined with flowering willowherb, meadowsweet and bramble throughout summer; the surrounding farmland carries white clover in the pasture strips and oilseed rape across the open arable fields towards Birdingbury and Marton.
Canal-side scrub and hedgerow elder at Long Itchington Wharf are a regular swarm location; collectors also attend mature village green trees, garden hedges and apple trees along the green margins, and outbuildings and boathouse corners along the towpath bank.

Early flows come from blackthorn and cherry in the Arden hedgerows and oilseed rape on the lighter soils around Southam and Shipston. Hawthorn is abundant; sycamore and field maple fill the middle of May. Lime and sweet chestnut in the parkland around Warwick, Kenilworth and Stratford produce a strong June flow. Bramble and rosebay willowherb support July, and a solid ivy flow along the ironstone villages closes a long season.
