Milford Haven is a port town on the north shore of the Milford Haven waterway — one of the deepest natural harbours in Britain. The town sits on a sheltered ridge above the estuary, with hawthorn-hedged farmland behind and the Haven waters below. The coastal footpath to Dale and the gorse-covered headlands on both shores of the Haven give local bees an outstanding early-season forage, while the harbour-front lime trees and the sheltered residential gardens extend the flow through summer. Collectors handle swarms in the lime and sycamore trees of the Docks marina area and Hamilton Terrace, in the mature gardens of properties on Cellar Hill and Charles Street, along the sheltered Haven estuary margins on the Hubberston waterfront, and in chimney stacks and eaves of the older stone and render properties of the Victorian town centre.

Gorse on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path begins flowering in earnest by March. Blackthorn and hawthorn follow on the sheltered hedges; sycamore and horse chestnut in Tenby, Haverfordwest, St Davids and Fishguard carry May. Lime and bramble fill midsummer in the towns. The Preseli hills contribute bell and ling heather in a quietly reliable August flow. Coastal sea-lavender, sea-thrift and dune plants along Freshwater West and Newgale add seasoning; ivy on stone-built cottage walls closes the year.
