Maindee is the inner eastern suburb of Newport, a densely built Victorian ward between the city centre and Caerleon, known for its diverse community and the mature parkland of Beechwood Park. The lime trees of Maindee Road and the Beechwood Park canopy give urban bees a good June city flow; the River Usk parkland margins are within easy range. The Gwent BKA covers this area and collectors here are at home with Victorian terrace call-outs and the occasional park swarm.
Collectors cover swarms in the mature lime and horse chestnut trees of Beechwood Park and the Chepstow Road conservation area, in the walled gardens of the older Victorian properties of Maindee Terrace and Maindee Road, along the Usk riverside corridor at Beechwood Park, and in the chimney stacks and eaves of the Victorian terraces throughout the ward.

The Gwent Levels carry a distinctive damp-meadow forage — purple loosestrife, hemp agrimony, meadowsweet — and white clover on the grazed marsh. Wentwood provides a classic ancient woodland flow of sycamore, field maple, lime and sweet chestnut. The city's Belle Vue Park and the banks of the Usk offer urban lime. Bramble is universal; rosebay willowherb flushes former industrial land. Coastal sea-lavender at Peterstone Wentlooge adds seasoning, and ivy on the old red-brick terraces closes the year.
