Bee swarm in Augher? Help is a minute away.

Augher is a small agricultural village in the Clogher Valley, close to Clogher itself, where the Blackwater River winds through a wide, gently drumlined valley of pasture and mixed farmland. The valley bottom has willow and alder along the river and drainage channels, productive from early spring. Dense whitethorn and blackthorn on the drumlin hedgerows give a generous May flow throughout the farmed landscape. Roughan Hill above the village rises to a moorland fringe of gorse and ling heather, giving a later summer flow on the rough ground. Bramble, ivy and rosebay willowherb line the lanes and older cottage walls. A quiet agricultural village typical of the Clogher Valley.

Forage in County Tyrone

Blackthorn and whitethorn drumlin hedges open the year. Sycamore and hawthorn dominate May. Lime is present in Omagh, Dungannon and Strabane. The Sperrins contribute bell and ling heather in August — a dark, thick crop some Tyrone beekeepers work seriously. Bilberry in the oakwoods adds a June supplement; rosebay willowherb is dense on every disused rail line and stone quarry. Ivy finishes the year on whitewashed cottages.
