Dungannon is a historic market and linen town in the south-east of Tyrone, set on the drumlin ridge above the Lough Neagh basin. The town was long a centre of the Ulster linen trade and retains a busy livestock-market character. Dungannon Park holds a large ornamental lake ringed with lime, sycamore and mature hawthorn, productive in May. The Ballygawley Road runs through typical mid-Tyrone drumlin farmland with dense whitethorn hedges and blackthorn margins. To the east, the Lough Neagh shoreline is within easy reach — reed-beds, willows and wet meadow provide forage across a long season. Rosebay willowherb and bramble fill the rough ground margins.
Collectors attend swarms in the hawthorn and sycamore of Dungannon Park, along the willow-edged drains on the Lough Neagh approaches east of town, in the whitethorn hedgerows on the drumlin farm lanes toward Cookstown and Coalisland, and in the eaves and stone walls of the older terraced streets near the town centre.

Blackthorn and whitethorn drumlin hedges open the year. Sycamore and hawthorn dominate May. Lime is present in Omagh, Dungannon and Strabane. The Sperrins contribute bell and ling heather in August — a dark, thick crop some Tyrone beekeepers work seriously. Bilberry in the oakwoods adds a June supplement; rosebay willowherb is dense on every disused rail line and stone quarry. Ivy finishes the year on whitewashed cottages.
