Dromore is a small cathedral market town on the upper River Lagan, surrounded by some of the most productive drumlin farmland in County Down. The medieval cathedral and its churchyard hold mature lime and sycamore. Deep double whitethorn and blackthorn hedgerows run along the drumlin farm lanes in every direction, providing an exceptional hawthorn blossom flow in May. The Lagan floodplain carries willow scrub, meadowsweet and purple loosestrife in summer, with Himalayan balsam colonising the riverbanks from July. Bramble fills the hedgerow margins through August and September, and ivy on churchyard and garden walls gives a critical late-autumn forage.
Swarms are reported in the lime and sycamore of the cathedral churchyard, along the Lagan riverside willows and balsam margins, in whitethorn and blackthorn hedgerows on drumlin farm lanes north toward Hillsborough and south toward Banbridge, and in ivy-clad stone walls and outbuildings in the older parts of the town.

Blackthorn on drumlin hedges opens the year; sycamore is the dominant May flow. Hawthorn is abundant. Lime in Newtownards, Bangor and Downpatrick gives a strong June crop. The Mourne Mountains carry ling and bell heather — a genuinely distinctive Mournes heather honey. Bramble is dense; coastal sea-aster on Strangford Lough adds character; himalayan balsam on the Lagan gives a long late flow. Ivy on whitewashed cottage walls closes a long, mild year.
