Canford Cliffs is an affluent seaside suburb on the southern shore of Poole, backing onto Branksome Chine and the sandy beaches of Canford Cliffs and Sandbanks. Its large pine-wooded garden plots, sheltered by the ridge above the chine, carry a blend of coastal and woodland forage — maritime scrub, established ornamental plantings and the pine-edge heather of the Branksome Wood nature area. The chine itself carries bramble and coastal willowherb into late summer.
Collectors attend swarms in the large pine-wooded gardens of the residential streets, in the coastal scrub and bramble of Branksome Chine, in garden walls and outbuildings of the Victorian and Edwardian villa plots, and in the cliff-edge ornamental plantings above the beach.

The season opens on gorse at Turbary Common and Canford Heath from February; blackthorn in the chine hedgerows follows. Lime in Bournemouth's public gardens — the Central, Upper and Lower Gardens along the Bourne chine — delivers a fine late-June flow. The Hengistbury Head headland and Stanpit Marsh carry sea-lavender, sea-aster and coastal scrub into August. Bramble is dense in the chines and on the heath edges. Bell heather and ling on Canford Heath and Turbary Common give a late-July to September supplement that few coastal UA areas in southern England can match. Coastal ivy on cliff-face gardens and older bungalow walls closes the year.
