Feckenham is an attractive village in the needle district east of Redditch, once the centre of the ancient Royal Forest of Feckenham whose scattered remnant hedgerows and old pasture still shape the landscape. The rich boundary hedges of this mixed pastoral and arable land support productive colonies: hawthorn and blackthorn in May, then white clover and meadowsweet in the field margins, and bramble through summer into the old orchard corners.
Collectors are called to swarms in the old orchards and tall hedgerow elders at the village margins, in the mature trees of the churchyard, and in the eaves and outbuildings of the older farmsteads around Feckenham and the surrounding hamlets of Stock Green and Bradley Green.

The Vale of Evesham opens the year with apple, pear, plum and the last surviving commercial asparagus flowers. Oilseed rape fills the middle fields; hawthorn and sycamore line the lanes. Lime dominates the June streetscape of Worcester, Malvern and Kidderminster. The Malvern Hills bring limestone grassland herbs and a small late-summer heather supplement on the upper slopes; bramble is universal. The tail of the year still carries some traditional hop-garden forage around Bromsgrove, and ivy on the old black-and-white villages closes the season.
