Brackley is a small market town in the far south of Northamptonshire on the upper Great Ouse, close to the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire borders. The Northamptonshire BKA covers the town, and the surrounding landscape — the limestone grassland and hedged ridge farmland of the Cherwell and Ouse watersheds, the parkland limes and estate woodland of Stowe and Helmdon, the old walled gardens of the Magdalen College School grounds, and the oilseed-rape arable belt stretching south towards the Cherwell valley — gives local bees a south Midlands limestone-ridge season.
Collectors regularly attend swarms in the older garden remnants and lime trees of the Market Place and High Street conservation areas, in the estate parkland and old walled gardens of the Magdalen College School grounds, along the Great Ouse headwater willows and meadow margins at Halse and Syresham, and in the chimney stacks and eaves of the older ironstone and limestone properties.

The county opens on a mix of oilseed rape and field beans across the arable belt between Kettering and Daventry. Hawthorn, blackthorn and field maple line the ironstone walls and quickset hedges. The estate woodlands — Rockingham, Salcey, Whittlewood — produce a sweet-chestnut and lime flow in June, particularly in the older planting blocks. Bramble is dense along the Nene Valley; rosebay willowherb flushes the disused quarry and railway land; and ivy in ironstone villages gives a generous late crop.
