Great Yarmouth is a North Sea port and seaside town on the narrow strip of land between the River Yare and the coast, with Breydon Water — a large tidal estuary — at its back. The Norfolk BKA covers the town, and the surrounding landscape — the Broadland reed-beds and alder carrs of the Yare and Bure valleys, the grazing marsh and sea-lavender saltmarsh of Breydon, the coastal dune grassland of Caister and the mixed arable farmland of the east Norfolk fringe — gives local bees a distinctive coastal and Broadland season.
Collectors regularly attend swarms in the older garden remnants and lime trees of the South Quay and Market Place conservation areas, along the Breydon Water reed-bed and dyke margins at Berney Arms and Burgh Castle, on the coastal dune grassland of Caister-on-Sea, and in the chimney stacks and eaves of the older Victorian seafront and town-centre properties.

Spring is carried on oilseed rape — vast sheets of it — across the light Brecks soils and the heavy clays of central Norfolk. Lime and sweet chestnut provide an important June flow in the parkland of the Holkham, Sandringham and Blickling estates. Bramble is ubiquitous; heather on the Brecks sandy heaths adds a distinctive late crop. The Broads themselves bring long flows from purple loosestrife, hemp agrimony and balsam along the staithes, and the coastal sea-buckthorn at Holme and Holkham is a known autumn supplement before the ivy.
