Bromborough is a Wirral town on the east bank of the peninsula, known historically as the site of the 937 Battle of Brunanburh and today for the Bromborough Pool village — an early model industrial village built by Lever's Price's Candle Company. The Mersey Estuary foreshore at Eastham Country Park forms the town's eastern edge, with the ancient Eastham Woods SSSI carrying native oak, ash and cherry that are among the oldest woodland in Wirral. The Sefton Coast sand dunes contribute an unusual assortment of forage — sea holly, restharrow, viper's bugloss, wild thyme — feeding urban bees along the coast. Horse chestnut and sycamore in Sefton Park, Calderstones and Birkenhead Park give the early flow; the lime avenues of south Liverpool and Wallasey carry the main June flow.
