Llanishen is a north Cardiff suburb set between the reservoir and the open farmland of the Lisvane fringe. Llanishen Reservoir and Lisvane Reservoir (together a Local Nature Reserve) attract abundant insect forage along their water margins; the mature garden trees of the old village core and the golf course rough provide additional bee habitat throughout the season. The Cardiff, Vale and Valleys BKA serves the area, and collectors here are familiar with both the older village properties and the surrounding postwar stock.
Collectors handle swarms in the mature garden and hedgerow trees of the old Llanishen village core and Thornhill Road, around the reservoir margins and their associated willow and meadowsweet scrub, in the allotment gardens of the Celyn Avenue area, and in the eaves and loft spaces of the postwar semi-detached and bungalow stock.

Early flows come from cherry plum and blackthorn in Bute and Roath parks. Sycamore and horse chestnut fill May; the lime collection in Bute Park is one of the largest in any UK city, giving a classic pale urban lime honey in June. Bramble is dense along the Taff Trail; rosebay willowherb flushes the former dock brownfield of Cardiff Bay. Coastal sea-lavender and samphire at Rhymney Great Wharf add a distinctive saline note; ivy on Victorian terraces closes the year.
