Fairwater is a residential suburb in west Cardiff between Canton and Ely, its interwar and postwar housing estates interspersed with the green open space of Fairwater Park and the Nant Dowlais brook corridor. The park carries mature limes and ornamental horse chestnuts giving a strong June flow; bramble is dense along the brookside; and the wide residential garden strips of the interwar avenues carry a long mixed flow through the summer. Sycamore lines every side street and ivy on garden walls closes the Cardiff year.
Collectors attend swarms in Fairwater Park's mature lime avenue and ornamental borders, along the Nant Dowlais brook corridor and its bramble and elder scrub, on the garden eaves and chimney pots of the older houses along Fairwater Road and Beechley Drive, in the allotment sites near Snowden Road, and in the ivy-covered garden walls of the quieter residential avenues.

Early flows come from cherry plum and blackthorn in Bute and Roath parks. Sycamore and horse chestnut fill May; the lime collection in Bute Park is one of the largest in any UK city, giving a classic pale urban lime honey in June. Bramble is dense along the Taff Trail; rosebay willowherb flushes the former dock brownfield of Cardiff Bay. Coastal sea-lavender and samphire at Rhymney Great Wharf add a distinctive saline note; ivy on Victorian terraces closes the year.
