Sandhurst is a town on the Blackwater in east Berkshire, best known for the Royal Military Academy, and bordered by the Swinley heathland and Crown Estate forest to the north-east. The Wokingham District BKA serves the area, and the surrounding landscape — the heather and bilberry of Swinley Forest and Broadmoor Bottom, the Blackwater riverside willows and alder carr, the bell and ling heather commons of the East Berkshire Heaths, and the garden trees and bramble corridors of the residential fringe — gives local bees a distinctive heathland-edge season with a real late-summer heather flow.
Collectors regularly attend swarms on the heather margins of Swinley Forest and the Broadmoor estate, along the Blackwater riverside willows and watermeadow margins at Owlsmoor and Camberley border, in the older garden trees and hedgerows of the College Town and Little Sandhurst residential areas, and in the chimney stacks and eaves of the older Victorian and Edwardian town-fringe properties.

The chalk of the Berkshire Downs around Lambourn provides sainfoin, wild thyme and knapweed; oilseed rape bridges the early flow. Windsor Great Park contributes a textbook June lime and sweet-chestnut crop, while Swinley and Crowthorne heaths give a late bell and ling heather flow on the sandy commons — one of the strongest heathland flows in southern England. Rosebay willowherb fills the MoD and railway land corridors, and ivy on the Thames-side villages closes the year.
